Meet the Family
Peter is the founder & MD of Easterby Trailers Ltd, and Peter still likes to keep his hand in even today. Peter is passionate about his trailer draw bars and he continues to make them all himself, he would never expect anyone to do a job that he couldn't do himself!
Peters other passion is his love for horses, he loves the breeding side as well as the racing, and he has bred a few over the years that have all gone on to win. There is no feeling quite like it says Peter, when you see one of your own bred horses win, and know that all the hard work has paid off.
Behind every successful man there is a woman, and Liz is the Company Secretary for Easterby trailers. In addition to working with Peter in the company Liz also helps Peter on the stud side, from foaling mares to mucking out, she loves the countryside and can often be seen enjoying a run across the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds, doing a few charity runs on the way.
Dean is a Director of Easterby trailers and has followed in his father's footsteps since leaving school and joining the business. He has always taken an interest in in farming life having been brought up in those surroundings. As far as work is concerned Dean has a passion for the design and the manufacturing process within the Agricultural trailer business.
Dean has worked alongside his father for over 23 years gaining valuable knowledge and experience each day. Outside of work Dean loves sport, and attending live music shows, as well as horse racing, naturally, and going to the theatre.
Harry being the youngest member of the family is still in full time education; Harry hopefully will follow in his brother and father's footsteps and join the family business. Harry's passion is playing his guitar, which he's been playing since the age of 7 and is dreaming of becoming the next Jimmy Hendrix. Harry also plays Rugby for his local Rugby club, Driffield, of which Easterby trailers are one of their Stakeholders sponsors.

The Family with Cottam Donny
Peter Easterby left school at 15 years old in 1969 and undertook an apprenticeship as a welder. After completing his apprenticeship, Peter, at age 20, decided to open his own company and set up Easterby Trailers at Ewecote Farm, Farndale near Kirbymoorside. Peter borrowed £40 from his Brother Ken and together with a bank loan to finance the business, began building a trailer a week from 1974.
Initially Peter was selling his trailers to various local dealers, but as demand grew he began selling direct to his Customers. At this stage the trailers were mainly kerowin hard wood, drop sided and lots of silage trailers.
The business outgrew its premises by 1979 and moved to new premises at Burton Agnes in East Yorkshire. From here on Easterby trailers went from strength to strength and moved to yet another larger premise in Cottam, East Yorkshire in 1994.
Currently still located at Cottam Grange near Driffield amidst the rolling farmland of the Yorkshire Wolds. So, from £40 to 40 years of business Easterby trailers today is run by a small workforce team. Peter's wife Liz is the Company Secretary and together with Sarah they run the office on a day to day basis. Peter's eldest son Dean has followed in his fathers' footsteps and works with Peter, along with 9 members of staff in the workshop.
